Re: New thread for my F250

Your's is no problem. Since you took the case to clean, I have that bench to work on the injectors.

Speaking of.....

Anyone able to help with this????

I got a set of Alliant O-rings for my injectors and there is a difference in one. I think I have them lined up right but want to make sure. The one in question is the larger pinkish one. Do I have them in the right order. The one the pinkish one is supposed to replace (if i have them lined up right) is a square O-ring and isn't as wide as the pinkish one. The original fills half the space where as the pinkish one fills more of the groove. Seems like an aftermarket improvement but I want to make sure. Do I have these in order?

Thanks
Dave

Re: New thread for my F250

I also found 2 of the brass end gaskets on one injector. Maybe these have been done before or maybe Ford screwed up from the factory. That wouldn't happen.......

Would this cause an issue?

Thanks
Dave

Re: New thread for my F250

I've done o-rings on a lot of those trucks for the 153rd on base, but don't recall any confusion on where they all go. Never seen the bottom washer doubled up either. Hard to say who did that.

Re: New thread for my F250

On the PS forums, everyone's saying I have them right. The original one was a square ring where this pink one is a oval type that fills the groove more.

I'm sure they're right now. As soon as the wife gets back from shopping, I'll pass the kids over and get them back together and in the engine. Then again, this damned rain will be a factor in that too. I'm sur eit'll all be great but I'd really like to have a modded set to go back in so I don't have to do this again someday in the next year or so. Just a simple little upgrade set. Oh well, practice.

Should I just lube the O-rings with engine oil? Do I do it with the copper one too or just leave it dry?

Thanks
Dave

Re: New thread for my F250

I always used engine oil. Make sure you pull the glow plugs and crank the engine with them out to get all the diesel and oil out of the cylinders.

Re: New thread for my F250

Done deal. I bumped it over without the fuel pump fuse in and the GP's out. I had rags over the holes and one of the rear ones shot off over to the Tahoe next to the truck. It's all back together and running. It's been back and forth on the idle but it does sound quieter. I need to get the rails filled up but had to quit to cook some dinner.

I hope it smooths out good. This and the filter/tank and oil crossover mods might just make it really quiet.

I do hear the turbo whistle more with the pipe cleaned off. Sounds cool. I also double checked the play in my turbo shaft and it seems good. I'm not as worried about it as I was initially.

I didn't get time to reposition the CCV. I need to get a tank with filter setup and some hose to do it. It's easy to do and I'll get to it later.

Thanks for the help.
Dave

Re: New thread for my F250

After running it today, it's down to a 2-3 second crank before it starts. I think I have allmost all the air out of the oil and fuel lines. After getting on it today, I surely do hear the turbo whistle more and I really hear alot of surge in it now. I think I'm going to pick up the wicked wheel for the turbo and run that until it's time to get a new turbo. I still need to get a chip though. It just isn't the same truck without.

I still am waiting on the hutch and oil crossover mod parts to arrive as well as the truspeed.

I think we are still due for some rain but I hope to get some washed up and waxed pics of it.

Also, I think I found my hitch reciever for it. Not sure which yet but it's one of these. All are rated to 10,000lbs but I think the most I'll ever pull is around 7,000. I want the adjustability and the added weight capability insurance.

This one is a 14" drop hitch in powdercoated steel.

This one has a 10" drop and is aluminum with stainless locks to keep it on my truck.

This one is a 9.5" drop and is aluminum too.

I like the adjustability of the first one since I'm looking at a 12" drop to get the top of the ball at 20" off the ground to keep the trailers level. I have to measure some more trailers to verify. We're looking at towing a 3,300lb 18-20 foot camper.

What do you all think?

Dave

The 14" drop one would be the best one for U. And U can adjust it when U take the Stang to the Track....

Re: New thread for my F250

It is the cheapest and has the most adjustability. I do like the aluminum one with the like keyed pieces. Then I could just leave it on and lock my trailer on rather than disconnect, put a lock on the trailer and put the hitch in the truck for the night.

The steel one has the added support bar in back which is a 1/2" thick piece of solid steel. The aluminums are a bit nerving for me at those weights. Supposed to be stronger. I never played with them so I don't know.

The 14" one would still be good for me if I do ever go to the 40" tires too. Not sure because I haven't found a set of E rated 40" tires for a 20" rim yet. Hell, 37's are the biggest E's I've found.

Re: New thread for my F250

Finally got time to wash her up. I didn't get it waxed but at least it's clean. The tires were the toughest to clean! My pressure washer took time to get them done. It has some scratches here and there but it's a 99.

Still waiting on backordered parts.
