Re: New thread for my F250

I just hope it does the job. No place for a spare anymore but I can't afford one at this size.

Re: New thread for my F250

Cool truck. I wanted a diesel but settled on a 2003 f250 with the 5.4 because I got a real good deal on it. Maybe I'll get a 2011 that will be a nice truck.

Re: New thread for my F250

a 2011 with a common rail 6.4 would be nice. I think they were talking 6.9? Not sure. The common rail is much quieter and has more balls. I refuse to have a car payment though so I settle for older stuff.

Re: New thread for my F250

It's been a while since I did anything to the vehicles but the rust under the chrome was starting to get to me. I went ahead and pulled off a steering styabilizer and undercoated it after scuffing off the chrome. I'm liking the all black thing for some reason now. I just can't bring myself to run black wheels. It's just not me. The steps will be removed for some black nerf's and I took the chrome off the mirrors, door handles and tailgate handle. I'll build some beefy Off Road bumpers too that will be powdercoated black. The chrome grille and wheels will stay though. And thole lights in the back will go for some tinted LED's.

Anyways, here's the latest. The other chrome one will be done soon and then I'll start on the shocks. I'm taking 2 from the front and putting them on back for an even 2 per wheel. Too much on the front with 3 each. That'll have to happen later. My neighbor will get tired of me doing this stuff out in our yard while trying to keep the garage clean for buyers.

Re: New thread for my F250

I used to like the shiny chrome thing being a SoCal guy but it just doesn't do it for me anymore. It doesn't last.

I'd like to have powdercoated them as well as everything under there so it'd withstand the pressure washer but shocks would blow up at the 400* baking temps. I'm sure this won't last forever but it's not hard to touch them up or replace them.

Dave

Re: New thread for my F250

Messed with the shocks. I got the Pro Comp ones on the front with a set of the other ones I can't find parts for. I'll try this out and see how they work and then order a set of the Pro Comps for all 4 up front if they work. I also got the other steering damper finished up as well as the rear shocks. The unnamed fronts are almost exactly like the rears and way longet than needed for the front. I'd like to put a second set on the rear but the exhaust would get in the way of the passenger side.

Doesn't matter anyways, because the nonames are very soft and easy to push by hand. One I think is shot completely. It's not one of the mones I put on the truck either. It's a spare for size and sample if needed.

Either way, the whole thing looks better with black shocks versus the white from before and the chrome steering dampers.
