Re: New thread for my F250

Bring a 2 ton little bottle jack if you have one.

I'm sure I can make the tool. Just need to know the parts needed and cut the metal up for it. It looked pretty simple and was only there to keep the clutch packs together when inserting into the case. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Re: New thread for my F250

Alrighty,

It took me 1 hour to take the intercooler pipes off, remove the valve covers, take off the undercover harnesses off, remove the oil rail plugs and remove the glow plugs. I checked the harnesses and they are reading great with continuity and no resistance. I did get one of the two plugs I thought was bad reading bad still the other seems to be an intermitent thing. They actually look pretty clean up top but they are ate up down by the tips. See the difference between my new and old ones....

I ran out of light today so I'm going to pull the injectors tomorrow and re ring them. Hopefully I can get them back in after purging the motor and get all the oil out of the cylinders and such.

I will also take the insulation off the intercooler pipe to clean it up some. It'll make the turbo whistle louder but that's cool. This thing is dirty.

Too bad my hutch mod and pre pump filter setup didn't show up today, I could work on that Sunday or tromorrow if I were to get this all finished. I have next weekend but I have a feeling the stang parts are going to be here and I really want to get busy on that.

Re: New thread for my F250

Screw you for suggesting me even consider doing this. My arm is killing me because I'm trying to pull it off with pliers just to get to the insulation under the aluminum.

No beating off tonight.

I did get one of the valve covers cleaned up and ready to put back on. I'm cleaning all the parts up and it's knowcked about 4lbs of dirt off already!!! I hate when people take care of the outside but don't bother under the vehicle or hood.

You still coming over Sunday? If not, don't worry. I hope to have this all buttoned up tomorrow or by mid Sunday. I really hope my filter and tank stuff shows up tomorrow.

Actually I hope I can pull the injectors out with the engine in the truck. It looks like it's going to be tight.

Any word from JW?? I think I'll just hold off on the VB for now since I've spent some good money on this and the stang lately. I really think I have a shift kit in it now but I won't be really NEEDING the VB yet. Baby comming and all, I need to slow it down. Shitty part is, when I pulled off the IC pipe that I pulled the other day, it had oil in it. Not sure if it's the blowby or if the turbo is leaking. My luck, the turbo will go out soon. I hope it's not that and it'll hold up for a while. I'm working the CCV mod now that I have it all apart.

I'm getting deep into this.....

Re: New thread for my F250

I wouldn't worry about the oil in the IC, it is from the PCV system and all diesels have it except the Cummins that used the road draft tube.

BTW, I rerouted the PCV on both my 7.3's. I turned the PCV canister around backwards on the LH v/cover and ran a piece of hose down to a frame mounted catch can with a filter on it. I never lost an intercooler tube after that, even at 30+ psi.

Re: New thread for my F250

That's the plan. I am doing that very same thing and making a metal 4" section to replace the stock intake tube that has that big intake restriction in it for the CCV. Did you run the line to the bay or behind the cab? I see kits stupidly priced online for 14' of hose running to the back of the truck with a canister or even running it straight to the ground without catching the oil. They all say the oil smell will smell up the cab if you run it open to air in the bay. I really don't like the amount of oil I'm seeing in there. Bypassing will narrow it down so I know the source. I will do something with the CCV when I get this all back together.

I did get some progress tonight. This was the dumbest thing I ever did. This pipe better look good under there and not make me regret the idea. It took about an hour just to get the insulation off and clean the pipe up. It looks good now though.

Re: New thread for my F250

I mounted the catch can on the frame below the cab, kinda right below the driver I think. I never smelled any oil, but after a hard pull, when I would pull off and shut it down (like fueling up) there was a little smoke coming out from under there. Not enough to be alarmed, or for anyone else to really notice, but I could see it.
