What's anyone think of 2000-ish Crown Vics?

There are a bunch of retired 2000-2004 Police Interceptors for sale here. Would they be a good move for reliable work transportation? I've never seen one up close (except from the inside, and never in the daylight). Are they always all beat to hell and used up, or are they as well-maintained as I've sometimes heard?
They are a screamin' deal! $3500 to $6000. It'd be nice to keep some miles off my car, you know?

What's anyone think?

Whats the mileage on them??.. I used to drive a 2000 and a 2002 as my patrol vehicle.. Most of the time some of them are not beat on because supervisors drive them.. You can usually tell the good ones from looking at the inside.. If you find one of those get it.....

I'd love to have one for a daily driver. I've seen a couple for sale at some of the Ford shows and they actually looked pretty good overall.

Does the same rule apply to the 4.6s in these? '99-up have better heads? Or do they need the P.I. upgrade too?
