M/T's vs Hoosier's

these are for drag slicks and street slicks......not drag radials.

who has what? what do you prefer? why?

I ran Mickeys for years (ET Drag and ET Streets) and have since switched to Hossiers (Quick Time Pros) for several reasons. I've also ran Goodyears, M&H Racemasters, BFG Drag Radials, MT Sportsman Pro and I just experienced the first set of Goodyear Drag Radials.

Mickey Drag and Streets:
- Too round of a sidewall making section width larger than needed for same tread width
- Sidewall too soft on the Drags, ok on the Streets; makes a high-powered car float around a bit
- Tread wear very good; I only had to buy 2 sets a season

Hoosiers:
- Generally an inch norrower on the section for the same tread width
- Very stable tire; no floating
- Better traction than the MT; with noticably worse tread wear as expected; I can get 2-3 weekends out of these tires

Goodyear D3:
- Best tire I've ever ran; good balance of traction and tread wear
- Once they start making a street tire; I'm buying it

M&H Racemaster and Sportsman Pro:
- Hard compound didn't provide good traction
- Good riding/driving tire

New Goodyear drag radial:
- Wow! Excellent traction and rides and drives like a radial
- I'm really considering these tires; not sure if I like the rounded look

BFG drag radial:
- I almost put Tony's car in the wall at Bandi with these
- They hooked okay when they were new; hooked really well when they were about worn out; then one day they spun like space-saver spares; not sure why but they literally went from hooking great one pass to nothing on the very next pass. That was when I snuck into the High School Drags a few years back.

lol...sounds like a good time lol.

i'm thining i'll go hoosiers when i get a pair. i dont get the chance to race every weekend so i only get to make a few races a month and i'm not really worried to much on the ware if the traction is better. rather have good traction and go through tires alittle sooner then shitty traction and stuck with them for longer lol.

Have you considered the new GY drag radials? I'll try to dig up a picture of my buddy's AWD Syclone with the front tires 4" in the air on 17" drag radials.
