Masterpower Turbos: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

What's the low-down on these units? Anyone running one? Or know someone close who has run them? From what I have found, they're made in Brazil, the specs are a little inflated, and people either love them or hate them.

Anyone bought anything from SSautochrome? I've sene their ads on ebay for a couple years and it seems fishy that they can sell these turbos at half price or so. I also read a rumor that SSAC buys MP parts and assembles some chessy knock offs. Any input?

their turbos are fairly nice but their service SUCKS!!! big time !! if you have any issue with the turbo it can take months to get fixed or replaced..

B&G turbo and other places have quit selling them due to that reason alone. as for peformance they are a great turbo for the price but their service is real bad..

as for SSautocrome... STAY FAR AWAY !!!!! I herd way too many bad stories on them.. I doubt they even sell TRUE masterpower turbos..

I went with Turbonetics due to a 1 year NO questions asked warranty.. even IF you forget a oil supply line and drag Race it lol lol..

Stay away from SSautocrome... I have picture's of their turbo's, where they have split in half.......and their exhaust manifold's break and crack....

MasterPower's in my opinion is a good turbo to run, especially if you are planning on running a big turbo, the price's are alway's right, but.....as red stated, they do have terrible service and any turbo failure is almost never thier turbo's fault.....most people i have talked too that are running master's, love em.....

Tonight I was discussing turbos with a well-known local car and gun guy. From what I now understand, SSautochrome sells metallic statues that resemble turbochargers. Thats kinda what I thought from reading a little bit.

I need to find more in-depth info about Masterpower's new larger frame turbos.

I would like to run a single charger, but I don't think MP makes anything big enough for my motor. If I run a single, I need something around 90-100mm with a 1.4 A/R ex. Twin 66-70's with ~1.0 ex should work too, if I decide to do duals.

Id buy a nice quality turbonetics or garret, and Id buy it from somebody knowledgeable in turbo's. I ended up buying my turbos directly from turbonetics myslef, and although a few bucks higher, I got what I wanted without the wait, and without the middle man screwing up my order. We have a few locals here who have had MP turbos, and they all seem to have seal problems almost instantly. Have a few guys with ssautochrome stuff too, and although cheapy junk to me, they are still working. Have seen quite a few of those with seals blowing out first time runing.

didnt work but I didnt see anything listed bigger then 88mm and a 1.05 ar on the link I posted.. I didnt look too hard though

Paid 2800 to put car together. NO work was done, never gave back my turbo kit. Now I see old adds of my parts being sold on craigslist while car was at his shop.
