Ford Police Interceptors Beat Cheverolet and Dodge

Ford’s Taurus and Explorer Police Interceptors have been getting a lot of press. We like them because they are based on vehicles we already appreciate, but because they have pretty strong performance cred even out of uniform.

This week in Michigan State Police testing against their competitors like the Dodge Charger and Chevrolet Caprice, they came out on top in virtually every performance category. The Tuarus Police Interceptor with with the SHO’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine won the competition in 0-60 mph, 0-80 mph and 0-100 mph acceleration.

At Grattan Raceway, the EcoBoost Tarurus Police Interceptor also posted the fastest single lap and best average lap times, even beating out the V8 powered Chevrolet Caprice and Dodge Charger. The new 3.5 horsepower naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6 Taurus also achieved the shortest stopping distance for all police vehicles tested.

“This year’s testing by the Michigan State Police once again proves Ford Police Interceptors are industry leaders, offering government agencies the desired combination of capability, technology and long-lasting value,” said Lisa Teed, Marketing manager for the Ford Police Interceptor program.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's department has or has been testing a couple of the Taurus SHO's around here. It has taken some people by surprise.
