Turbo question

I guess this is for you turbo guys and gals out there. I finally got to drive my 91 stang after installing a turbo on it last fall and is it normal for the car to sound like it has open headers when the wastegate opens because I thought I blew the exhaust off when the car hit 7psi it scared the crap out of me.
Also after being a blower guy for the last 10 years I never could have believed the difference between the two. The turbo was ALOT harder to install but the torque is amazing.

Re: Turbo question

where do you have the wastegate dumping? is it just in the engine compartment or is it tubed to release under the car. Mine makes that noise but it isn't so loud that it scares anyone......

Re: Turbo question

It's has a short 90 degree tube that exhausts under the engine. When I get off the gas the car goes right back to being pretty quiet and none of my exhaust connections are loose. Maybe it seems loud to me because I've never heard it before.

Re: Turbo question

what kit are you running??

open gate is LOUD lol depending on size, you basicly get a 44mm exhaust leak when it opens lol

you can make/buy a small muffler for it or have it run back into the downpipe if its too much for ya.
