I'm sorry for your loss Brian... It is tough to lose a pet after you have grown so attached to them. It's like losing family!
My Mom's Schnauzer is getting well on up in age and it's going to kill my Mom when she passes, but the dog has really helped her get through some rough times.

Keep your head up man. The pain will pass...

Thanks everyone. It is still sad when i think about him. there is a spot on the couch in the basement that i cleared for him when he was sick and it is still empty. every time i look at it i can see him sitting there. He was a great dog, and we really miss him. We are getting adjusted, even Riot my other dog has almost stopped searching for him. But as time goes on we will heal, but will always miss him.

Sorry everyone, this post was not intended to bring tears to anyone, but if it did then you can imagine my emotional attachment to the little guy.

When I returned from Afghanistan, for those that don't know, I had been blown up in an IED strike and 6 of the 10 soldiers in my vehicle were killed. 4 of us survived. I was diagnosed with PTSD which brought on severe depression. a few months later I got Chico as a second dog to the one I already had. I figured Riot could use a little buddy and Chico fulfilled that. He also helped me to recover as he was such an inspiration as to what he had gone through. Chico and I were best buds. He was a little slow, I often described him to people as being "On Retard" cause his timing wasn't all there. But he was a great pup. Although he is gone, I have many great memories of him. Even last night I recieved an email from some friends that talked about the funny things he used to do. I had posted a thread awhile ago about him being crazy.....here he was in all his craziness......

Every veteran should have a good dog to get them through the ups and downs that we can't talk to anyone else (or damn few) about. Even after I've been retired for over 10 years, I need a bud to talk to and hang with.
