2011 Car Craft Summer Nationals Auto-X Pics

Thanks to Jason Stevensen of jsphotog.com for snapping these pix for me!

Can't remember if I posted results here yet or not:
1st: Auto-X Late Model class (5th fastest run overall on the day) 47.42 seconds
2nd: Launch box (4.48 seconds, lost to a 4.42 on the last run of competition)
5th: Dyno (493hp, car spit the MAF and was drawing unmetered air didn't discover it until after the dyno event... oh well)

Good enough for a 2nd place finish OVERALL at the Summer Nationals event.
Pretty cool. Lost to a very good friend so all is good.







Taking the important phone call from Jeff Smith (Car Craft Editor) to meet him by the stage for the awards ceremony. Pretty cool to get that call. And now you all can see the goon in the orange car.

Buddy runs a whippled 10th Anniversary Cobra. So it was a 1-2 Ford finish at a GM Performance sponsored event. He layed down 612 on the dyno, is the guy who ran the 4.42 in the launch box, but I edged him out by 0.8sec in the autocross. Runs a full coilover setup on his car too... so kinda proud of that.

Car is about as power-rich as I can go without swapping to a non Eaton (or TVS) blower. Not really looking for more power, next up is setting up the suspension with adjustable shocks/struts and maybe coilovers. Gotta save up for awhile first though... 3 sets of tires this year kinda ate through all my mods budget in a hurry.

Jason is a great guy for sure. He's been photographing my car since I got it 5 ... maybe 6 years ago. It's his shots that show up in all the magazines I've been in. He just has an eye for detail and not "over-doing" a shot.

Thanks everyone, it was one of the best events I've ever run.

Was chatting with Jeff Smith (Car Craft Editor and road course/auto-cross/drag racer...lol) and he was giving me tips throughout the weekend to make my runs smoother and as a result faster. Very cool guy.

Going to try and apply some of what I learned out at Sturgis this year and see if I can move into at least the final 8 in the auto-x event out there Labor Day weekend.

Congrats. Sounds like you kicked some ass and took names. Car looks great. Are you getting any tire rub on the fronts? It looks very close in a couple of the pics. You get the suspension set up you want and they won't be able to touch you.

Have rolled the front fenders (old school, baseball bat... it works if you go slow and smooth). No fender rubbing, it used to though. The only rubbing up front now is at full lock it rubs the frame rail a little bit.

I agree though, once that suspension is where I want it, it is going to be a monster to compete with.
