Re: Want some advice for the track.

Sounds like a fun night. We would have had some good runs when I had my car. I had an SRT 8 that smoked my ass running a 13.00. That thing was turned up but I am not sure what he had done to it. My best was a 13.58 I believe. It is in the time slips section on here.

Sounds like you learned a lot about your car with the new tires. Congrats on the times! Kudos to Mike for helping you out too...

Re: Want some advice for the track.

Sounds like you guys had fun . Next time try dropping the tire preassure down to 14 . that's what I run , I cut a 1.8825 60' with the Nitto's .

Re: Want some advice for the track.

We had a good time. Learned that Brian has adjustable struts in the front and rear. We found the sweet spot on the struts. I couldn't teach him how to do a good burnout as he has a manual and I have an automatic. His homework was to work on his burn outs. Will have to remember to drop the pressure to 14 and do dry burnouts. Also need to get him a good dyno tune. I keep thinking that we can get him down to 13.5 or better.

Re: Want some advice for the track.

I've benn drag racing for about 5 years now. When I do my burn out, I go aroung the water box and back in. That way I wont be dragging any water up to the line because my front tires are street tires, not skinnys. I give the tires a quick rip in 1st gear and roll out of the box about 3-4 ft. Shift into 2nd gear, rpms to 4500 dump the clutch, wait untill there is some smoke and the rpms bog down and roll out of the burn out. I use to have Nittos. 17 lbs was the sweet spot on my Fox. Remember, Nittos are not a wrinkle wall like a slick, so you are not benefitting running real low air pressure. Mark the side of your tires with chalk using the valve stem as a reference point, and check and make sure that the tires are not spinning on the rims. Mine would move about 1/4 to 1/2 inch for a whole day which is not bad. If you have street tires I would recommend you back in too, you may hook and 60 ft. better. A line would also make the burn out real easy!
Finding the right rpm and clutch release method can be mind boggling. I've found that you hook the best when the gas is going to the floor, and the clutch is being released in perfect sync. Clutch too soon, and you'll bog. Gas before clutch and you spin. Slip the clutch, you spin. Dump it before you mash the gas , you bog.
Have fun and good luck.

Good point. I left that out but I do the same thing. Wish everyone running street tires up front would.

Re: Want some advice for the track.

Yep that's what Mike(Loadclr) had me do was drive around the waterbox then backup to it to do my burnout. I just need to work on my burnout's I didn't heat the Nitto's up good enough and I need to find what RPM my car like's to launch at then I will be all good. Thank's alot everyone for all the help and info.

I try to get everyone I know running street tires up front to do this also. It's amazing to see the light bulb come on after I explain it and they think about it. Then to see them after the first run when they do this and their 60' times improve and it is proven.

Re: Want some advice for the track.

Unfortunately we have a track around here that won't allow you to do that. They actually REQUIRE you to drive right through the water box. Sucks for sure. Got scolded a couple times last time I was there before I figured out what they were yelling at me about.

All in an effort to keep the staging lanes moving apparently.

Re: Want some advice for the track.

It always helps to video tape your runs anytime you can Brian . I have watched my runs that Ivy taped a bunch . I have seen where my burnouts need work . I'll just have to remember to change the next time .
