Non -mustang question, 2000 pontiac

Ok i figured once again i would ask a question for you geniuses..lol
I have a 2000 Pontiac Montana that will randomly stall out. I saw it was kind of a popular problem, but didnt find any answers on why.
I will be driving at 55 and have it stall, or be just taking off and it will stall. First time was for thanksgiving, then didnt do it again till a few weeks before christmas. The last straw was on the way home from the hospital with my wife and newborn daughter...Pissed Me OFF!!!
Replaced the fuel filter and even took it to a mechanic, but without it acting up he couldnt help....you guys have any suggestions???

You mentioned "genius". So I figured that was a call for me. lmao When it stalls, does it start right back up..or sometimes start and sometimes not ? Does it do anything else, or just instantly die ?

Oh,btw. Being a genius doesnt mean Im a mechanic. lmao Have to cover my ass. lmao

Re: Non -mustang question, 2000 pontiac

sometimes it will start back up after a little cranking, but sometimes it takes a few minutes. Also i forgot to mention that the gas gauge starting acting up at the same time. The mechanic put a data logger on it so i can keep driving it and see if it acts up again, then he will read the data....but i really dont want to be out stranded somewhere in this shitty ass weather

Re: Non -mustang question, 2000 pontiac

I had a similar problem with my wifes 2003 Chrysler 300M. The engine only shut off a few times, but frequently the engine would just drop to an idle only while driving.
The problem was the crankshaft position sensor was bad.
