97 mustang

So i got this from my uncle. My cousin drove it and for some reason it was in an area that when it rained, it got flooded. inside stinks, but that might be the only problem.....until you look under the car.

when the rain came and flooded, the local towing company took it. i guess that they have a fork lift and think maybe they got a fork in the oil pan. see pics....my uncle thinks that the motor blew a rod. i dont know how to check this with out taking off the oil pan. i looked at the manual that i have and that looks intense to do. any other ways to find out?

i was also wanting to know if i remove the engine, i can take the trans at the same time...right? the manual said to remove from trans. its a auto btw. thats how i did it with my 68, trans and motor.

Re: 97 mustang

so i was looking at craigslist and there was a 3.8 there. emailed the guy and said that he thinks that the motor is from a 95 that he has. not knowing the differences between the 97 and 95 engines, my question would be... will it work for me? when i asked him about it, he said that the 93 to 99 all had the same engine. really? the last fox body and then thru the sn95's were the same v6? i dont know to much about the v6's to know better. let me know. thanks~

Re: 97 mustang

93's still had an inline 4 banger in it. Some of the earlier Foxes (80's models) had V6's, inline 6's, inline 4's and V8's. Ford went with the 3.8 V6 starting in 94, the the 4.0 V6 and now the 3.7 V6. If he a 3.8 V6 for sale, then it will be good for replacing the one in the car.
