Dragon Plenums

Jerry asked me to help him with posting this thread.. Some useful information from Jerry with pics..

Here is some info regarding Dragon.
Their web address is: www.dragonperformance.net
Their head engineer is Stefan Holder, a super guy that is straight up and responds to questions in a very reasonable period of time, although I do not bug him with trivial questions.
Attached are some pic's of Dragon plenums I have had personally and worked on. The current Dragon plenum & 75MM TB I have on the car I don't have indiv. pic's of. These are the standard plenum & 75MM TB, not the pic's you originally posted that uses the Cobra style TB.
The Dragon plenum is very peculiar internally and I had my doubts regarding it's performance initially. However, one of my very early customers who purchased two P&P plenums from me and dynoed them in comparison to a Accufab also purchased a Dragon plenum and compared it to my plenum also. As I have previously noted, my plenum outperformed the Accufab using two different 75MM TB's, Accufab & Dragon, the most HP & torque was derived with the Dragon 75MM TB. However, a Dragon plenum out performed my plenum by approx. 1.33HP, torque was almost equal. Since I was skeptical of the Dragon originally I obviously became interested.
Subsequently I purchased a Dragon plenum to see if it felt more responsive than the Accufab I was running at the time. The outcome was quite positive and I was sold. However, in these comparisons I P&P both plenums. I initially used a Accufab 75MM TB on the Dragon that I did a little work on.
Later I purchased a Dragon Plenum & 75MM TB combo (PN: 710-75P) that I worked on (only the plenum) before installation and was exceptionally happy with the performance. The Dragon 75MM TB is an absolute work of art straight out of the box and far exceeds the quality of Accufab. After that I purchased the BIG plenum & TB (PN: 701-40) that I hope to get reinstalled shortly. Pic's of the plenum & TB of this combo are exact as I got them out of the box. A couple of pic's show the C&L CAI pipe that is required for installation.
I am only interested in putting out basic info that the members may be interested in checking out. I am really not interested in pursuing P&P business as I really enjoy the web site as a personal outlet.
If you need any additional info holler and I will try to oblige.

Hey Charles, I goofed on the 1st pic. It's a C&L, somehow I got it in my Dragon Pic files. Not surprising for me and my ability with a computer! My expertise with computers is an indepth knowledge of how to use the On-Off power switch.

Thanks Charles . For general info If anyone is interested here are the intake & outlet measurements for practically all popular aftermarket plenums for the 4.6, SOHC, 2V. All have a 75MM intake opening, but the outlet side of practically all are different in size as noted below. I guess by changing the dimensions there is no patent infrigemnt. Since the plenum outlet is oval shaped all measurements were taken at the longest dimension and widest dimension of the oval. Additionally, I have found all castings of the various manufacture's can vary in size as much as 1MM for the same identical plenum.
Only the plenum outlet dimensions are noted since all have a 75MM intake.

Stock: 61MM X 80MM

Accufab: 63MM X 82MM
BBK: 64MM X 81MM
C&L:* 64MM X 80MM
Dragon: 61MM X 80MM
Granatelli(GMS): 63MM X 80MM
MAC: 65Mm X 81MM
Performance Prod's:* 64MM X 80MM
RPM Outlet:* 64MM X 81MM
Trick-Fkow* 63MM X 80MM

*Denotes: Performance Products manufactures the Power Air Inlet and Trick-Flow Plenums. The Power Air Inlet is produced in China, the Trick-Flow in the US. There is a substantial difference in the quality of the castings.
It is my understanding the C&L manufactures RPM Outlet plenum but I have not verified this as positive.

All of the above measurements were taken from plenums that I have owned, used, modified & tested, mainly from "seat-of-the-pants" performance over the years.
