Tony Hawk Foundation Auctions Off Custom 2011 Mustang

Sports stars often donít get the credit they deserve. For every star running around having affairs and babies across the country, there are dozens who quietly contribute to the betterment of society. We often donít hear about the many contributions these men make to society, because that is how they want it. Their charitable contributions can range from simple donations to putting in time with kids, and even auctioning off cars to benefit the local youth.

The Tony Hawk Foundation, founded by the worldís greatest skateboarder, recently auctioning off a completely custom 2011 Mustang GT, reports Mustangs Daily. The money will go towards building safe public skate parks for children.

Skateboarders have had a historically close relationship with cars, and many of these skating stars have quite the collection of automobiles. Hawk has even lent his name to a number of special-edition Jeeps, and he himself drives a Grand Cherokee SRT8. For this auction, Hawk turned to the skills of Galpin Auto Sports and DUB to make this custom, one-off car.

Equipped with a 5.0 liter V8 that has been tuned to produce 425 horsepower, this 2011 Mustang GT has plenty of other things going for it. Equipped with a Flowmaster exhaust system and Ford Racing lowering springs that give it a lower, more aggressive stance, the custom paint job certainly makes the Mustang look menacing. The Katzkin interior is luxuriously appointed, and the hood has an awesome hawk emblazoned on it. The winning bidder managed to get this car for just $45,000, a virtual steal considering all the custom work that went into it. That should go a long way towards making a nice skate park for the kiddies though.
