Rust in the trunk?

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this. I see rust on the driverside back portion of the trunk. It looks like it is coming up thru from a structural piece underneith.

It looks like it is from water kicking up from under into some frame member thing. Iwill take pics. It looks like a design issue. No water ever in the trunk. My car does have nearly 300,000 miles on it. But that is my only new car (9 years goes by fast!)

if its a small enough place that traps water come up with something to enable anymore water from getting in. clean the effected area and use some stuff to keep it from getting any worse then use something to keep anymore water from entering it......

i haven't noticed anything like your talking about on any of my previous cars but something i'll start to look for on future ones though.

pics would be helpful too.

That's usually a sign of bad weather stripping around the deck lid
