turbos on fi cars?

ok, so my turbo experience is limited to carb cars. this might sound like a stupid question, but when you are using a blow through setup, does the throttle body need to be sealed up in anyway?

You mean like you would do a Carb setup?

If that is what you mean...then no...the T/B is already sealed in and out on MOST if not ALL EFI cars. Most air is 'metered' air, so any air getting in AFTER the MAF will scew your readings. Every T/B I have seen comes with the butterfly sealed, and the TPS sealed. No need to take 'extra' measures to seal it...

If I am way off what you mean...ask away again...

or you could just ask DugDug...maybe he knows...;)

thats exactly what i mean. thanks man!

No problem...

Throttlebody has a line to the valvecover. You want to plug that one or else you boost your crankcase.

Thats just on 5.0s...that might not be the case on others...but good point

Erich 10-11-2006 10:22 AM

Yeah, I was talking 5.0. Not sure about anything else.
