Shifter Install???

So I have my MGW shifter sitting out on my work bench, Im waiting on my cobrabob shifter gasket to get in. But im wondering how difficult would this install be? Ive read that this shifter is nice and i wanna see. Ive also read that i dont need to use the shift stops on the mgw cause the 3650 has internal stops? I would just like to get this installed...thanks for your help

The MGW comes with very thorough instructions. Im sure if you have any further questions, these guys can help you out.

Im not sure when it will get done maybe next weekend. i get my cast off the 19th...lol..I would like to put my aluminum driveshaft on as well....lol

I cant say how it is, or would be, to work in a cast, but i would imagine you would want to wait.

Doesn't take to long brandon. Pop off the plastic shifter cover and shift knob. Should be 4 bolts holding the rubber shifter cover for the tranny housing hole. Next will be 4 bolts holding the shifter, remove those and take a small hammer and lightly tap your shifter handle and the shifter should come free. Once that is out, be sure to locate the little plastic piece that goes in the shift rail, sometimes they stay stuck on the little ball on the end of your shifter......now clean the area where your shifter is going to be. Some people use a gasket, i just use silicone. If you use silicone, just put a small bead all the way around the base, set your shifter handle back down, reinstall.......done.

yeah, it took me about 15 minutes to do it. it's really easy. and yes, you could do it one handed.

The shifter and driveshaft are both easy. The shifter could definitely be done one handed. The aluminum drive shaft would not be a one handed job. On the drive shaft I would have a second person to put the car in gear to break the bolts loose. You break one and they can take it out of gear so you can turn it and then put it back in gear. That is one of the only jobs my wife has helped me with on the Stang. Good luck.
