Re: Need help with rear brake drums

I was told it came out of a 65-66 mustang but I do not think it did. Every parts store I tried only has the drums with a 2.250 pilot hole, I have a part #yh140306 for Wearever brakes that Advance says is a good # but they do not make that drum anymore and I can not find a crossover site to another brand. Also will try to post some pictures soon------thanks Al

Re: Need help with rear brake drums

summit racing has them for that year but it does not list the size of the pilot hole. might be worth a shot tho.

Re: Need help with rear brake drums

Might have some luck from Napa, after spending two hours on the internet and trying about 80 different combinations of year, engine and body styles I think its a 1974 Maverick rear. They can only find 3 drums, one on the west coast and two in Florida. They will have two on Monday wish me luck that they fit----Al

Re: Need help with rear brake drums

Good luck with it!

I ran into that problem when a friend of mine loaned me his 60 model Impala for the summer of 1999. Had a shitload of fun in that car (cherry red convertible), but it needed a rear wheel bearing. Usually a very easy and inexpensive fix,,,,,, BUT for that model specifically, they used a stupid off size bearing and it was $120 for one bearing!!!!!!!! Only Napa and Chevrolet had the part. I guess that Chevrolet only let Napa sell them, because everyone other part store said it was a dealer only item.
Luckily my Mom was the Assistant foreman over Maintenance out at Timex watch Corp, and they get a 50% discount from Napa!
The guy at Napa said that if it was one year either way he had plenty of bearings for $19.95 each....
