Stupid Headers!!!!
 

Well it seems like it's a yearly thing.. Since I got my headers 3 years ago, every damn year one of them leaks.. Now over the past few years the shop who installed them have replaced the gaskets no charge but last time I went, they told me that was the last time they would do it for me at no charge..
I expressed that they needed to put on locking fasteners, and of course they didn't!!! So out I was on Saturday going for a cruise, when all of a sudden, I put the car under load and all I can hear is the tick tick tick coming from the drivers side. I'm so bloody pissed off.. If it was a 5.0 it would be an easy fix, but being a modular engine, I'm gonna have to do some serious work to get them fixed, and if I can't do it myself, i'll have to bite the bullett and pay a shop a heafty fee for this..
I finally get the car running stellar, then I have this crap I have to deal with!!

how would you fix it if it was a 5.0? my car is a 5.0 and has a ticking sound coming from headers

In the 5.0's I can atleast get to them without ripping apart the bottom end of the car!! Modulars are a pain the rear!!!! No room!!!!

Sorry to hear that your car is giving you so much crap with the headers.




I used that Copper Gasket sealer on my mustang and it worked great. I backed the headers off a little bit and let them hang on the end bolts, and then put a good smear on both sides of the gasket. Slipped the gasket in and tightened the shit out of them! Never leaked again!!!!:laughing7:

What kind of gaskets are you using Mark ? I'm using the Percy's dead soft gaskets , with the Stage8 locking bolts . They have been taken off and put back on 3 times , and never leaked .

Headers on modulars suck when you have to work on them.

Yep that's what the mechanic at JMS told me lol . He tried to get me to put the stock manifolds back on .
