Drag Racing at the Miramichi 17-18 Oct.

So about the only "Kill" part of this story is that my car has a new best ET.

So Jared (Sweet '83) Mike (SHUTUDWN) Patti (Miss Sweet '96) and I headed up to the last event of the year at the drags strip. Weather hovered very close to 34-35 deg for most of the weekend. Cool weather and great track prep helped me to net the new time of 14.06 @ 97mph with a 1.83 60'.

Jared ran into some probs on his very first run ending his weekend, I'll let him tell the story. Mike, well his Cobra ran good but never got close to his best time even with my ET streets on there.

Sweet, glad you guys got the runs in. It seems like everybody is having a crappy try at the tracks this weekend. I know the Shakedown was cancelled due to weather.

nope, didn't get the clutch in. i think exceeded my expectations for the car. i was joking when i said i would run a 13.99, came pretty damn close....some people didn't think the car would get close. But believe me even i was surprised. Mike wrote a 14.47 Dial on my window and i blew that out of the water with the shakedown pass of 14.36.

I think the combination of the new gears, the fixed rearend, the ET streets, cool weather and good track prep were all contributing factors.

No worries Dudes! As you can see I was trying to make the best of it and have a few laughs with the situation.

So this is what happened... I never even got to make one pass with the '03 Cobra. Rolled up to the start line after I put some heat in the tires, brought the RPM's up to around 2500 slipped the clutch out and BANG! We thought at first it was just the drivers side Halfshaft that broke so a friend of ours, Dave had a spare one I could use so I put it in. Well, after installing that the car still wouldn't move so we got looking under the car again and found that the one on the passenger side had broke as well. What are the chances of breaking both at the same time? I've never heard of anyone breaking both sides before...

wow that sucks but at least you can have a good attitude about it. So now what? are their stronger replacement axels out there or do you just have to replace them and pray it doesnt happen again, or swap out the IRS for an 8.8
