Re: My bolt-on Cobra VS. H/C/I Worked 2V GT

yeah, where i race is in a valley surrounded by huge mountains. it's notorious for poor air quality. if you can get a bolt on 2v to break 13's your doing pretty good. density altitude is everything!

I didn't say it's not possible to make 400 hp with an Aviator motor. They just don't make that stock. And parts will always be cheaper for a two valve. There are half as many valvetrain parts to buy.

Well, I definitely agree that if you can do it, anyone can. lol j/k But not everyone wants a daily driver with 4.56 gears. Keep in mind you don't have 75 mph speed limits down in Florida.

A 350+rwhp 2V (281ci) n/a is about as hard to find as a 1,500rwhp daily driver...lol

I am pretty serious about building a SOHC motor. Appreciate the offer, but I have a lot of other projects to finish before I can work on the coupe. I have to put the new motor in my Cobra and build an engine for the Fairlane (and start on the body work). I also just rebuilt the motor in my four wheeler and I need to finish it up and I have a lot of work to do on my '89 Wagoneer. I've been working a lot of hours and I have a personal issue that has been tying up a lot of my time lately, too.

It's still kind of up in the air as to what I want to build. I'm leaning towards the two valve because I have a good block and some other parts that I could use for it. I'm picking up a 460, a 351W and a couple 302s from a friend, though. I've always wanted to build a big block, so I'm strongly considering the 460 also. It all depends on whether I want a stick shift or auto. If I built the mod motor, it would be a stroker (probably with a carb and nitrous) and I would use a 5-speed. With the 460 I would go with a built C4 or C6 and I'm sure I would have to put a 9 inch in it. It will come down to cost, too, but the two valve seems like the better choice. It would be different and stick shifts are more fun.

Nice race by the way. But why didn't he spray it once for fun and lay the smack down on you?

Re: My bolt-on Cobra VS. H/C/I Worked 2V GT

You are correct, they don't make that stock. It takes longtubes, pullies, air filter and tune. If that doesn't get ya there...you gotta port the intake a little... lol

Damn....you got A LOT going on dude. I would do the 2V from what you have stated. They are fun little motors for sure. And if you see a fast 2V it is out of the norm usually nowadays. A stroker, with some nice cams, ported heads, carb'd would be a sweet set-up no doubt. Even sweeter if you could swing a bb/stroker with a 3.7 bore!

He didn't spray me because it was agreed motor/motor for a spot on a local list we have for N/A modular cars. We have numbered lists here for the street. Roll racing lists and dig racing lists. Usually numbered from 1 (fastest) to whatever the slowest.

Re: My bolt-on Cobra VS. H/C/I Worked 2V GT

Nice race. You've got a pretty quick Cobra. That dude needs to learn to drive if he can't beat you though with all those mods. He should tear you out of the hole since 2v's are generally stronger with low end torque, but you should gain back in the upper rpms where 2v's fail. I keep my races to an 1/8th mile because I know I'm always in my sweet spot....sure it's a bit cheap.....but makes it more fun for me

I've raced my share of fully bolted on geared SN95 Cobra's and have lost by less than a half car. 2v's aren't as slow as people make them out to be! If I had gears etc it would've been a different story.

Thanks man!

Yeah, he should have hung a little better. But if you do the math, he was way out of his league racing my Cobra. He has more peak power.....but with him only having 3.73's....I am sure I had a better average HP and TQ # throughout the race however. And my car was probably about 300#'s lighter.
