New here

hello guys im from Canada, i live in BC, im 20 years old and im not all that impressed by my cars performance. The other day a SS cobalt ate me up, those got what 200hp?! lol anyways, i baught it in December 2006. the guys i baught it from said they set it up for a blower or turbos. i paid $9000 cnd for my car, which was probably too much(Im still paying for it). im not a big mechanic or anything i can do mild things fuel pump, alt, oil whatever. they chopped the springs to lower it, it rides like shit, the doors dont line up at the top, leak and whisle like crazy (bent frame or body?)
heres what i got...

Engine:

SCAT Forged Crank (3.400" Stroke Length)
SCAT Forged H-Beam Rods (5.315" Length)
Tool Steel Wrist Pins

Melling High Volume Oil Pump
Hand Made Titanium Main Cap Stud Girdle
CAT SFI Approved Harmonic Balancer (28oz Imbalance)
SCAT SFI Approved Flexplate
ARP Main Studs
ARP Head Studs

Comp Cams Steel Spring Retainers
Comp Cams Steel Spring Cups
Comp Cams Chrome-moly Guide Plates
Comp Cams Heat Treated Push Rods
Comp Cams 7/16 Rocker Studs
Comp Cams 10 Degree Super Valve Locks
Crane Cams 7/16 Aluminum Roller Rockers (1.6 Ratio)
ARP Chrome-moly Oil Pump Drive
Cloyes Heavy Duty Timing Chain
Felpro MLS Head Gaskets
Felpro One Piece Oil Pan Gasket
Ford Racing Valve Covers
Clevite "H" Series Narrow Main Bearings
Clevite "H" Series Narrow Rod Bearings
Hastings Plasma Moly Rings (1/16 1/16 3mm)
Ford Motorsport Convertable Engine Mounts
Brand New K & N Cone Air Filter

18x9" Saleen "S" Style Aluminum Wheels
4 Brand New Essenza Tires 225/40/18
Rear SN95 Axles (5 Bolt)
Rear SN95 Disc Brakes Front SN95 Spindles & Rotors (5 Bolt)
Front SN95 Disc Brakes
Ford Motorsport 190lph Fuel Pump
2500 Stall Torque Converter

Stock tranny, stock block, stock fuel system, stock gears

on turbomustangs they told me my compression ratio is low and is probably my main problem with the low power.

i was thinking of maybe trying to find just a roller and aftermarket block and maybe do some work over this winter. maybe be lucky and find a car with a blown moter/tranny? cut my losses and sell it? i dunno what to do anyone with some good ideas for me?

by the way what are stock gears in a 1988 LX 4cyl

First thing, welcome. I'll probably be corrected by some of the more knowledgeable members here, but I'll take a shot at some of this. Unless I am suffering from a severe caffiene deficiency, I didn't see the size of your motor or the mileage listed. I assumed it was a 5.0 until you asked for the stock gear ratio in a 4 cylinder. (Was this a V8 swap?) I may be wrong abut this, but for the automatics I believe it was 3.27 regardless of the engine option. As for the power, the base 2.3 put out abut 90hp, while the 5.0 was rated at 225. (Here's where I'm looking for this information http://www.mustangforums.com/timelin...-ford-mustang/ )
I'm not totally convinced there's frame damage based on the fact that there's a gap at the top of the doors. We're talking about a 19 year old 2-door car. Could it be possible that the hinges are tired?
It sounds like someone either lost interest or ran out of money with this car, and the somewhat high price leads me to think they were trying to cover some of their investment. As I said, there are far more experienced people here than myself that will probably be able to help you a lot more. Good luck.

Welcome to insane Savier, that's a beautiful ride man......I wouldn't cut my loss's just yet....I think the biggest thing that is killing you right now is the rear end gear ratio...If you are still running stock gears, the only way you could have beat that cobalt would be on a long distance race....With that compression ratio on your engine, you really need 4.10's back there if you wanna play....What is your timing set at? You should be able to bump that up quite a bit with that low of a compression ratio.

Now one thing to concider, even if you feel right now that you paid to much for the car, and maybe you did, when you start figuring in the price's of all the parts on that engine, that would be right about what you paid for the car......so from here out, every thing you put in the car will be absolutely worth the investement......especially if you go turbo.

Welcome to the site.

If that chevy cobalt beat out a Stang, it must have been juiced, or something, lol.

The mods to your ride are very impressive.
