I'am living in California. My wife and I have an 86 LX with a 3.8 V6.( I want to swap out the the 6 for an 8.) I'm retired military. My wife has her Mustang, a 70 Sportsroof and she is the original owner. I was a Chevy guy but she converted me. Hey nobody's perfect.
The reason that I came to this site was to get the straight skinny from guys who know about what the V6 to V8 swap entails. Like, do I need to change the x and K members and how about the ecu. I started reading Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords article on project Frightening but they used an after market k member for a mod motor. I don't know if it would be better to go with the mod or 5.0. Guess I'm just full of questions. My plan is to get a donner (wrecked) car at auction so I'll have the full drive train and computer goodies but I understand that 98 and up ucus have antitheft built in and would require a smart key and wiring ect. If anybody has done this swap I sure could use their experience to avoid the pitfalls.

The K members are the same.If you plan to stay EFI then I'd try and buy a complete donor car.I've seen some v8 cars for 500-700 bucks. You will need a diferent ecu. And welcome to Insane.......

My wife's 70 is a box stock 302 with a c4 2v. It has cloth insert seats and pie plate hub caps that I have seen in Mustang monthly only once in 16 years.
It is her pride and joy and she has every piece that has ever been taken off of it.
She told me that she would replace me before she would let me put dual exhaust and a four barrel carb on it!!
The odd part about her car is that it came from the dealer w/ Torino lazer stripes on it.
