Ford Mustang Sales Up 66.2% for the year

As of March 1st, Ford's dealers had sold approximately 9,862 Mustangs in 2010. Last year the company sold 5,934 in the same time frame. The end result is a 66.2 percent increase in Mustang sales this year. Not bad for a company that says its second-quarter U.S. sales were up 43 percent for the company as a whole.

In all, Ford sold approximately 5,115 Mustangs this February, compared to the 2,990 they sold in February 2009. That's a 71.1 percent year-over-year increase for the month of February alone.

No doubt, things appear to be moving in the right direction for Ford. Just last week the company announced customers had already pre-ordered more than 11,000 Mustangs for the 2011 model year. In fact, due to the popularity of the new model, Ford will be investing $155 million dollars, and adding 60 jobs, at their Cleveland operations to build the new fuel-efficient V6 engine for the 2011 Mustang. Ford predicts its 2011 V6 model, which will feature 305 hp and a dual exhaust, will represent two-thirds of Mustang's volume this year.
