302 OEM heads

ok guys.

what is the best OEM cast iron head to work with for a 302? porting/polishing is acceptable.

i've been told some of the years crown vics have a little higher compression ratio then the normal E7.

thanks guys.

What about GT-40P or GT-40 heads? They were OEM on 93-95 Cobras and 96-2001 Explorers and Mountaineers. They flow better than the earlier stock heads and make better power. They have a 1.84 intake valve and a 1.54 or 1.46 exhaust valve. The combustion chamber is anywhere from 58.3 to 66.4, depending on which ones you get. I have a set of the GT-40P's on my Stang and love them.

GT-40s for sure!!! prolly the P heads but they require special headers.

here is where it gets FUN.. what are the EXACT rules for heads and what is meant by OEM??

SOME classes will allow the alum GT-40Xs or other alum heads so long as FORD made them. Ford is OEM and they might let ya use a alum ford head

what about an older set of 289 hipo heads, somewhere near 67 they flow great and no emissions bumps to work with. should bump the compression considerably and give you a good flame front in the combustion chamber.
