Engine Talk
If you are looking for information on a specific engine, you are in the right place. Hopefully we can all learn from each other on how to tune your car for daily driving and how to get the last ounce of performance from your ford engine at the track.

Oil dipstick

This seems kinda stupid but I'm stumped. I was changing my headers and my dipstick snapped off down in the little tube in the block. How do I get that thing out? Do I use an easy out. It's such a tight spot it's hard to get in there let alone see. Please give me any ideas, I need to change my oil but can't because of this so my car is sadly sitting idle right now.

There normally not in there that tight you might be able to us a magnet, an easy out might work if its stuck.

It's an 83 so I imagine it's stuck in there pretty good. And with the easy out I'm worried about metal shavings going down in the pan. But that seems to be the most common answer.

put a magnet in the pan when you do it and leave it there, the screen on the pick up should keep anything from going though the motor.

use a magnet or use a bunch of grease on the easy out......Just put a shit load of grease on it and see how it works, if it was to cause any shavings, the grease will catch em.

I would try an easy out first with alot of grease on it to pick up any shavings. If this doesn't work, the only other way I know of is to remove the oil pan and punch it out from the bottom.
