Ultimate PCV/crankcase evacuation thread

After a couple of times at the dyno I realized I was getting a lot of crankcase pressure after my turbo installation. So I did some research and there is a lot of options of what you can do. I thought it would be great if everyone could give there opinion on the best way to get rid of this problem and the set ups you have. Pictures would be great.

Some people claim that under boost the pcv system will pressureize that crank case. You can put a one-way on the pcv hose and see if that works. I have also seen the pcv hole plugged and a pair of breathers run on the valve covers, I have done that and it worked pretty good. The last set up we did, we are running two -10 hoses from the front of the vavle covers running to an electric vacuum pump mounted in the fender well, and running to a breathered catch can. We havn't driven it on the street yet, but works well on the dyno and the track.

How is yours set up now??

I have been looking into and asking about this aswell. The BEST setup by far is a vacume pump!! expensive but it is the "best". Im not going the expensive route lol so Im unsure as of now what Im gonna do..

I think erich DID do his like that, I rember seeing pics of it.

I would say, test your PCV.. IF your not pushing boost into the crankcase you can make a few dyno flogs with out buliding up too much crankcase pressure. MOST of the time PCV valves are JUNK.. I have like 20 new valves laying around the shop.. all from different MFGs and for different year/makes/models and 75% leak out the box..

Have you done a leak down? You should. If you are blowing alot of vapor or oil out of the breather with no pcv, chances are you are blowing past the rings.

what size lines running to the catch can??

I agree with jim... 2 breathers and no pcv and your still having issues I would do a leakdown test. Unless your lines to the catch can are TINY!! lol lol
