would a 5.4 out of a f150 work in say my 03gt?

just curious of anyone who's seen this swap done and weither its worth it or not. cam, intake options?

Yes the 5.4 will work, but you need to change the intake, i do believe the heads and cams options are the same as the 4.6...intake is something i am not sure about.

hmm just wondering if its either worth it besides the wow factor.

looking at specs on them they both put out the same HP numbers. i'm sure the 5.4 put out more torque though.

hmm, cause my supercrew just happens to have the 5.4, hmm, wonder if i could put the 4.6 with the truck intake in the truck and the 5.4 with the mustang intake in my car?

well my truck just has the 4.6 in it, i wish i could do the swap

looks like most of the gain is with torque on the bottom end. by 5750rpms the 4.6 is doing better stock for stock.

main issues is exhaust, and intake. they sell an intake for 625 to go onto the 5.4 and everything fits under the stock hood. oil pans swap, front accessories swap, all sensors swap. stock headers will fit but the h pipe has to be extended on both sides to accomadate for the wider taller deck height.

as you already said, cams for the 5.4 are the same for the 4.6 so maybe with a cam swap it could be worth it.

i've been reading about this swap for a LONG time. there are now a couple of companies that make adapter plates to go along the edge of your factory plastic intake manifold on the 4.6 to make it fit the wider gap of the 5.4. other than that, is is a peice for peice direct bolt in, with the same wires running to the same sensors and everything. there are some NASTY 5.4 2v turbo motors running around in Florida and Texas....oh, the throttle cable needs extented or swapped with a replacement cable that is an inch longer.

I just don't want to sell the headers that i just put on . I dont believe they will fit with the 5.4 , will they ?
