cam numbers

i just got a shortblock not too long ago and was told it had a stage 2 trick flow cam in it but i tryed summit, google, comp cams (because it looks like the numbers are from comp cams but cant for the life of me figure out where this cam came from. the numbers on the cam are front side-2361244 hr12 and theres a bc stamped right after those numbers back side-986880 which im assuming is the patent number or part number. any help with this would be great thanks

Re: cam numbers

Is it possible the numbers you have "2361244" are actually stamped 236/244? If so, I bet thats the 0.050 duration. The HR12, most likely means hyd roller 112 LC. The other number doesn't look familiar to me.

You can take that cam to any good machine shop and they can measure it. Or you can buy a degree wheel and measure it yourself. Or you can send it to a cam company with an Andale machine and they can measure it. Or you can send it to me and I can measure it, no charge of course.

FWIW, I never install an HP cam and trust the specs on the card. I ALWAYS measure every cam. I have had cams that were completely different grinds than what was stamped on them. I mean completely different. I just gave you a secret about why some people's cars run better than others. Measure all cams and there's no guess work there.

Peace.

Re: cam numbers

thanks for the info i figured it would have a logo of some sort stamped on it but it didnt have one. i was told by the guy who sold me the motor it measured out at a trick flow stage 2 but the numbers arent even close. could i call comp cams and see if the numbers might be on file somewhere there? thanks again for the info and secrets.
