Angry Audio/Alarm Installers, help!

So, I have a Viper alarm system. The one with the responder remote. Model number 790XV. The alarm all works properly. My problem is that I cannot get the remote to update with status of whether or not the alarm is armed. I hear the chirp of the car telling me it is arming. But the cool little display on my remote doesn't changed to locked. I get the icon popping up showing that the remote is receiving a transmission from the car. I am at loss as to why it does not change the icon to the locked one. I am thinking I may have to redo the learning procedure for the remote and basically re-install the remote to the car, but with everything else working, I am not very confident it will do anything to fix my problem. Thanks for any help anybody can provide.
