mach head unit

I have an '04 cobra with the mach sound system in it. has anyone here ever done a swap to an aftermarket head unit while retaining the factory speakers and amps?

Yes i did in my 96 GT i wouldn't suggest it...it really sucks and then nothing works right. mine is all out of whack. go with a full aftermarket setup, or leave the head unit in there......just my .02

I think you can just buy a aftermarket plug in and it should work.......I know i did that in the toyota 4 Runner we used to have....I even tied in my own larger power amp....

from my experience, you can't. the mach system is set to run at 8 ohms impedence, and like every other thing on the market is 4 ohms. clever way to make sure you have to use mach stuff.

I have a Panasonic head unit in mine...took me forever to get it hooked up right so that everything worked, but the sound quality is worse then when i had the oem head unit in there. its a hard go at it...i would go full aftermarket next time
