A/C / heater issues.

So now its getting damn hot around here and i wanted to fire on the A/C in the stang, well shit i had nothing, tried the heater, same thing....nothing. I checked all the under dash and under hood fuses and those are all good. when you switch to a/c you hear it do its little exhaust and know its not the switch itself, would a blower motor just shit the bed like that or could it be something else?

Re: A/C / heater issues.

I blower motor can just shit the bed like that especially if the car has been sitting for a while. But something to check is whether the compressor does anything when you kick the switch on cause the heater cycles the compressor when you turn it on so that the bearing dont go bad over the winter in them. If the compressor does nothing then you may still have a switch issue. The little exhaust you hear is just the flapper door and it may or may not be moving it can always just exhaust the air then stay stuck in place. More than likely you have a switch issues at the dash I would just jumper the switch and see what happens just my opinion though.

Re: A/C / heater issues.

Yes the blower motor can just fail........I think the fuse is like number 17 and it's a 30amp. If that isn't shot and the blower isn't working, replace the blower.

Re: A/C / heater issues.

the car hasn't sat that long, everything worked a couple of weeks ago, and then it sat last week. now to check if its the switch just pull out the switch housing and jumper the wires in the plug themselves? and which wires?

-------- added 1 Minutes and 16 Seconds later --------

oh and when i also turn the switch on, the compressor does cycle. it drops the engines RPMS when i switch to A/C

Re: A/C / heater issues.

Do you have a test light or a meter? If so I would pull out the heater controll and check for power at the fan switch. If you have power there go to the resistors. From the resistors you should have power to the fan. If no power at the fan switch(with key on)trace the wire to fuse box. Don't try to force the switch to work cause you may damage the resistor if it isn't already shot. If it show's you have good connections all the way to the green 30 amp fuse, go ahead and pull the blower and run a couple wires to your battery and see if it will run (becareful when you do this because it will start in high mode, so it will jump on start). If the fan doesn't start, you will have to replace it. If the fan runs, you will have to replace your resistor and switch. You have to do both because if the resistor isn't reducing your electrical current, it will burn up the new swich. Hope this makes sense brian.
