Rattle hatch

The hatch on my son's stang rattles when he is driving it. Anyone know what causes it or how to fix it?

Which bushings? Where are they located? Can they be replaced?

Re: Rattle hatch

from what i recall, which isn't much, but i had to replace something on mine.....check the bolts holding the hatch on at the top for tightness. also i do believe there should be some rubber bumpers on the lower half of the hatch that support the hatch on either side when it is closed. also grease up the locking latch to prevent the full metal on metal contact, that might quiet it down. my old hatch i didn't do much of the work on because i was a youngster at the time of owning it, my dad was a mechanic as well as everyone else in my family....where the hell did i go wrong, lol. try those things its about all i can think of.......is it really the hatch making the noise or some other underlying problem?

Usually only a few things that will allow the hatch to rattle, the latch, the weatherstrip gasket or those little rubber bushings.....

Well, the rubber bumpers are good just needed a little tweaking on the height. The bolts and struts are good, just very little slop on the side to side movement. We did get a striker bushing kit from O'Reilly's and put one on the striker. That took care of the problem. Much quiter now.

No vids yet. I will help him with those. Gotta teach him how to do a proper one.

He did tell me about a kill last night. He took a Honda Civic on the way home from work last night. He said he could wind it up higher than the Civic could and it made the kid in Civic mad...........lol.

And the kid's Stang is only a carbed 4 banger........lol.
