Yep clay bar is the shit.
The only thing that is tough to get over is the amount of time needed if your paint never had it done. Pay the most attention to the hood roof and deck. I use the Meguires system. The lubricant is the spray mist detailer. Ya its more expensive than soap and water but you get that slick as snot feeling, shine, and a little bit of protection.

When you start just grab a 2 foot section at a time. Don't try and do the whole hood for example at once like you are going to wax it.
Flood the area that your working on with the spray. It will feel like 60 grit sandpaper, but its just the clay dragging on the crap stuck to the paint. keep it lubricated and check the clay often. When it loads up just turn it over. After that just knead it till it looks clean again, then continue. DON'T DROP THE BAR ON THE GROUND!! It will suck up gravel and dirt like a magnet. If you do spend some time cleaning it off.

When i did my ranger the first time it took about 3 hours for the whole truck including the re-wax. But it was dam worth it. It wont take out any imperfections like bird shit burns, or scratches etc though.

Have fun!

It used to be a detailers secret back in the day but not anymore.Definately don't be afraid to try it.It is simple, just read the directions and you will be fine. You will be impressed.
