mild 302+ 4in lift blocks = death

So today I was pulling my small trailer with a light load to the dump and had a little problem. They are doing construction every where down town and I had to pull out across two lanes of heavy traffic which had me using the right pedal a little. Well I jumped on it and felt a bad bad thing happen, after I got out in traffic my bronco was vibrating bad. So I just went home and look under it to see I broke both blocks and bent the spring perches which intern cracked the tubes and caused my driveline to contact the pinion flange. All this from a explorer 302 motor with little else, who ever tells me a 302 dont have torque can . Ive drove the snot out of a bronco with built 400m that was suppost upword of 450ftlbs and I think this 302 is way meaner off the line and I had the same lift/tire size.

You got lucky that time , with the blocks . It would be good if you could find some re-arched springs for it .

Re: mild 302+ 4in lift blocks = death

I'm looking at removing the blocks and reworking the suspension. I'll have to find a new axle first dont think I'll trust this one now that it's cracked and all that.

Re: mild 302+ 4in lift blocks = death

Yes it probly helped that I had put good u bolts on it after I got it. I think the thinner old ones would have snapped.
