forged crank yes. junk powder metal rods as normal. and with a factory 11 to 1 comp ratio there aint gonna be no boosting these without a bottom end rebuild. now they would love some spray with that compression

Yep and the article i read said the the crank case was cramped now with the stock rods . I'm sure somebody will make a set of rods to fit in it .

So you're saying that it's gonna be hard to throw a supercharger on these things without changing out the crank and rods?

Yep i'm sure if they are the same material used in the 4.6 rods and pistons , it will be about at the limit now .

Re: Will the 5.0 decimate the 4.6?

All i can say is every motor out there will eventually be dominated by another. Just look at the original 5.0L best motor for years then along comes the 4.6L changes the name of the game and just like the old 5.0L still much wanted by lots the 4.6L will hold its on and still be a power house.

I don't think it makes us equal, but it does make the spanking my little mill will lay down a little easier to live with.....

you can boost 11 to 1 compression but it will have to be VERY low psi. the crank is good to go but the rods are junk and the pistons are also. you need to put dish pistons in to lower the compretion ratio to use moderate to high boost (6 psi and above)

now like i said before nitrous loves high compression but then again you still will have junk rods and pistons
