Anyone ever do a HID upgrade?

The setup I got for my CTS didn't come with instructions, for some reason. Simple enough install, but the ballast blew both fuses. Any one have any experience with this?

Re: Anyone ever do a HID upgrade?

i just read about this on another forum...(no personal experience, so take what you will) that depending on the kit, most HID kits require a fuse upgrade from the normal 20A (in a mustang, mind you, not sure with your CTS) to a 30A fuse. also, if the ballast is wired backwards, it will blow fuses. there is a page thread on this somewhere on the lonestarstangs website, where i read it.

Re: Anyone ever do a HID upgrade?

Thanks for the info... that's sort of what I am thinking. I just want to make sure the fuse is the right one when I pick it up.

Re: Anyone ever do a HID upgrade?

some HID kits (like the one on my stang) can be wired seperately directly to the battery and the relay is activated by the headlamp switch.

i don't reccomend a fuse upgrade through the stock wiring. I would personally do a relay setup to power the HIDs

Re: Anyone ever do a HID upgrade?

Turns out, it was nothing like that. The damn kit is from China and they reversed some wires. The company, xenonlink.com, has shit service and didn't include instructions with the kit. I spent hours messing with the kit, got it to work after $20 worth of fuses and relays. The company never bothered to follow up with my email questions, which made it harder to get it right. If you're going to do HIDs, go somehwere else.
