Halloween Costume saves day.

This happened several years ago.
Me and my wife were members of an Adult Parents club. Everyone got together at a Ramada Inn and we rented the ballroom. The hosts set up several people as 'baby sitters' at their home and we would all drop our kids off and have a night of no Sponge Bob, school grades and "Stop that"s. We could rent a room at a discount, BYOB, dance, talk and have some fun.
So it was October and the theme was Halloween. Wife went as the Tooth Fairy with a dress covered with play-money bills and little wings. I got out all my tactical black clothing and seeing as I was a licensed armed security guard I went as a Tactical Entry Team cop. I had a toy shotgun painted black, a toy gun in my holster, stick on letters on my black sleeveless winter vest, my gear belt with everything hanging on it and put some black grease paint on my face.
So we drop the kid and swing into the local KwickyTripper to fill up the car and get out libation of choice. Thank you Uncle Jack where ever you are! Shes pumping fuel and I go walking in to get the goodies and refill our tea travel mugs. I notice as I walk in that a car parked at the front door reverses all the way around the side of the building and rolls out with his lights off. No biggie.
I get inside and walk back to the drinks bar and fill up the mugs. Now I noticed there were only 2 other customers and as I moved around one way they kept moving around the other. These 'people of color' obviously don't like my looks. Maybe it's the plastic grenades on my vest?
So as I work around and pick up a 2 liter of soda pop they go out the front door. I don't pay any attention. I get to the counter and the guy is on the phone.
"I think the 2 guys who have been robbing our stores were just here. Yes they left. No they didn't rob me. Well, your Tactical Officer scared them off."
WTF? I look around for the cop and realize he's staring at ME!
I'm explaining to him as he bags my stuff and a cop comes sliding in and 'lights it up'. I put my hands on the counter and do the 'spread' thinking about how much time you get for impersonating a police officer. The cop pulls the guns off me and realizes they are toys. He asks for my ID. I give him my license and Security ID. He asks "what is all this". I explain we're going to a Halloween party, then throw in "Trick or Treat".
He says "just get in your car and go. Don't look back. just go". I get in the car and my wife has my duty gun in her lap. She told me the car that left got to the corner, ran the light and took off 'like a bat out of hell". Then the 2 guys walked out and took off running, right across 6 lanes of 45 MPH traffic.
I am good at following orders like that. There were lots of cop cars out.
Ends up they caught the two guys on foot 3 blocks from the store with their guns. The driver got shot like a dog a week later.
Guess who's money was no good at those markets for 3 months?

They each had a 9mm. I had a 'tire stick'. Sounds almost fair. Hope they had more than 1 clip!
And the funny thing was it was all over the news. They all said "Another customer entering the store" was the reason for the robbers fleeing.

Best part was seeing my "I hate guns!" wife sitting in the car with my .357 in her lap! When the wolves are at the door I guess anyone can change their stand on weapons real quick.
