Career opinions...

So I have been going back and forth with what I want to do career wise. I was planning on going to school for business. Given the economy and way things go I am not too sure any more. I was also thinking of going into the IT field. I am wanting to get started at the beginning of the year or new school year, if not sooner. My current job will reimburse me up to $3k on top of whatever other money I can get. I work 40+ a week so I should qualify for other assistance too.

My question is what are some good options, career wise. Mainly concerned with job availability, job security, "normal" hours...would prefer M-F or even a four day week, lol, and most important of course, pay. Any other options I may be missing as well? I would like to get started on a degree to hopefully move into the field and work on higher degrees to move up. Ideally I would like to be within 60k+ a year within a few years if not sooner.

Re: Career opinions...

If you want normal hours, then you don't want anything to do with IT unless you get on with a computer shop. You should stay with the business degree, there will always be businesses and they will need business administators and such. Just my two cents.

Re: Career opinions...

I am leaning towards business since numbers are easy for me and will always have jobs. IT just seemed like a good option pay wise, but don't know a whole lot about the aspects of everything.

Any other fields that may be good for consideration?

I don't know about the pharmacist Doug. I worked at a pharmacy while in college and I think there is a rule that you have to be a crybaby to be one.LOL Good luck man it is a tough time to be making those kind of decisions. I just changed jobs and when this crap started I about passed out.

Lmao........Just seem's everytime i look in the paper up here, some one is looking to hire a pharmacist....45 bucks an hour to start. Dat's some big bucks, and you don't have to worry about being burned in a fire.

That is because when their crying towel gets soaked they quit thinking they are going to find something better. Heck the technicians like what I did do most of the work in hospital pharmacies. It may be different in other places. When I worked at the hospital pharmacy the technicians like me put most of the orders on the computer and fill the order and the pharmacist signed it (and sometimes looked at it). Ask me how I know they don't always look.
