Ford Confirms Future Ecoboost Mustang

It’s been rumored for a long time. In fact it’s been rumored for many years, since the first news of the 3.5 liter EcoBoost twin turbo V6. The Mustang would would have EcoBoost at some point in the future said the rumors.

The forums were abuzz and probably are today with the revival of the Mustang SVO. Photoshopped images of various S-197 Mustangs have been seen across the net with SVO-like cabbage attached. The thoughts that the Taurus SHO’s 365hp EcoBoost V6 would be found in the Mustang’s engine bay have been high.

Much of the more realistic rumors have been about one of the new four-cylinder EcoBoost engines being slated in as a new base engine. The new 2.0 liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 247hp could fit in well under the current 3.7 liter 305hp V6.

Well to add to the chat, at the Detroit Auto Show Ford’s product guru Derrick Kuzak, acknowledged that an EcoBoost Mustang is in fact in the works. “Given the success we’ve had with EcoBoost across the lineup that we’ve talked about, it’s fair to assume that we will have an EcoBoost Mustang in the very near future, ” Kuzak said.
