5.0 wiring harness issues

Hey guys I have a 1993 4 cylinder coupe that I am wanting to put a 5.0 motor in it.I have already done the 8.8 rearend with 3.73 gears in it. Now I have a issue with the wiring harness and the right parts that I need to bring this car alive.I have got a 91 harness with a 93 cobra computer and I was told that I have got to change out the wiring under the dash is this true or what?.I need to know as fast as I can.I was going to try to get it on the road as fast as I can..

Do you guys not know about this situation.Do you think i should use a carb instead or what..

I have heard that certain year engine harnesses only work on certain year cars. I have heard that only 1991 and 1992 are interchangeable. All others are specific to that year.....unless, like you mentioned you change out all of the wiring. dash, body etc.

The last 4cyl conversion I did was a '93. I believe the 91 harness will work without changing the dash harness. An easy way to tell, near the master cylinder there is a round plug that goes to the dash harness. If your v8 harness has one plug, (the ealier v8 harnesses have two plugs) it will work. Somewhere around '91 they put the fuel pump relay under the mass air meter mounted on the inner fender, the earlier years they mounted the fuel pump relay under the seat.

91 harness and 93 computer wont work the connectors to the computer are different, the 91 uses two connectors for the computer and the 93 computer only accepts a one plug harness, you'll need a new harness.

Well the guy that told me that is a buddy of mine that works at the ford dealer ship around here.And he said that he done one and charge him $2000 dollars.I said that would make me wont to go to a carburator.But I want to drive it and get some what good gas mileage.But I will look and see what would be a better route to take in this situation.But thanks guys for the information that you gave me..Thanks

Yeah that won't work, also the computer won't work too hot with 19lb injectors either if thats what your running, i'd just sell it for about $150 and get an a9l/a9m for $75ish, when you get into stuff like this its best to stick with the same year, but there is always someone in the same boat as you in need of your harness that has a harness you need
