with low boost (8psi) on a bone stock longblock I managed to muster up a low 12 @ 120mph FIRST time out and still has a lot of room to improve on. I think you could get what you want right away (efi,450hp, ect) and maybe still have a few bucks left over.
I agree with turbo being the best. But it would take a lot more than that to get into the low 12s up here.

Ya. High altitude can suck at times. Especially for the turbo cars. Hopefully when I get mine done I can figure it all out. Deuce is making it work up here.

i think with a single 62mm turbo i'd be able to hit low 12's all day!!! and ultimatly id like to do a 427 instead of a 393... but dont know yet.... but i think the 393 is a lil more affordable...........

On a stock 306 non-intercooled at 8 psi? If you say so. I would love to see more turbo cars that work well up here. They are few and far between. Not saying it can't be done, or you can't do it. But I would love to see it. What does your car run all motor up here?

Sounds like you're on the right track. After seeing what Red89 did with his car, the turbo 306 is looking more appealing. It just depends on how far you wanna go with all this. The bigger motor will give you more potential down the road.

Thats what I have is a single turbonetics 62-1.. I truely LOVE it.. I would take it over a faster N/A car.

as for turbo being more expensive.. I have to disagree.. I parted mine together and did all of the work myself and got out for less then 3k with a intercooler.

Why would you want bigger than 393? I would say go smaller if anything. Just step up to the taller decked Windsor block so you can put a decent height piston in it. Danny's (Deuce) motor is a 370 or 380 and runs mid 8's up here. I have nothing against small cube motors. It's just that the 8.2" block makes it tough to put a good piston for boost. Hell, build a stock displacement 351 or cleaned up 357. That's plenty to make huge power with a turbo. How long it will live is anyone's guess. The money goes into the heads and valve train anyway. So even if it blows up, you can usually salvage most all of that.

You can build a budget turbo motor that lives forever. Or a built-ass motor that explodes in the water box. It's all a gamble.

The NHRA correction factor for Douglas is .94, Bandimere is .93; so mid 14's.

13.5 / 0.93 = 14.52
