If it looses coolant, there is a leak somewhere because the fluid is escaping. It is impossible for the coolant to just disappear. If you can not find a physical leak from a hose, or simular, you may have a head gasket leak. Are you getting any condensation out the tail pipe?

i am gitting condensation in the tail pipe but not anymore than normal in La I was thinking it could be the fan clutch isnt working well and when it dosent work at all the car over heats causing the coolant to turn to steam and expand and then go out throught my over flow then when it cools the coolant is low but that is just a theory i have.because it dosent always over heat.

I had this problem with my 90. It would get hot and then cool down, It never got over heated because I would pull over and let cool before it did. I replace every thing and nothing help tell I replaced the fan with an electric one.

could be a bad fan, try a block tester to check for hydro carbons in the coolant, not always with a bad head gasket does coolant get in the oil, because cylinder pressure is far greater than cooling system pressure, i would think that an intake leak would leak coolant into the lifter valley
