3G upgrade question

ok i just put a 3G alternator off of a 96 F-150 on my 91 GT and its not wanting to charge my battery.
I used the wiring diagram from this site (3G Alternator Upgrade How To), and just not sure if you guys have any hints.
At first i tried running a 8g wire with a 30amp fuse, which blew right away so i swapped to a different fuse setup with one of the big round ones and it hasnt blown, but maybe i blew a fuse in the fuse box??
It got to dark tonite so i will check that out tomorrow but just wondered how you guys did it

ok today i went out and put a better ground on it and ran a power wire from the positive terminal to the ALT and it still doesnt want to charge....god this thing is really pissing me off, but to say fuck it and put the 4 banger alt back on it

ok maybe i dont have it figured out. Yesterday i was going to cruise it around but thought i better check it one more time and sure enough i pulled the negative terminal and the car died. I screwed with it all day then decided Fuck it and threw the 4cyl alt back on and wired it all back up, pulled the terminal and it died again...WTF??
I dont know if there is any hidden fuses i might have blown because i checked the fuse box and every fuse is good...I do have an MSD so i'm wondering if when i pull the terminal it loses power to the box and dies????

IF your MSD box is wired directly to the battery (like it should be) then yes it will shut down.

what does your voltage gauge say?
