Haveing Just repainted my sons 72 the one lesson I learned was to go with the same manufacture aof paint and primer it does not matter to much what kind of paint you use dupont ppg ect there are alot of good ones out there its all depending on how much you want to spend just dont mix up the manufactures type IE dupont paint use dupont primers and sealers or ppg or whatever shop line is ppg just not as expensive but use shop line primer and sealers determine the paint you are going to use and then get your primers and sealers

Re: Need help with door molding on gt and paint question??

Most of those moldings have a foil type of material on the back side and sometimes they won't stay stuck after you've taken them off. Sometimes they will warp once back on the car once the sun heats them up, so what I've done in the past is taken this foil off and just used 3m tape directly to the molding. You can try with the 3M over the foil first. For paint I would try to use an expoxy primer, then you can top coat over that. The shop I work at uses the expoxy as the sealer also. With today's paint I don't think it is as crucial you stay with the same manufacture we always use ppg products with house of colors topcoats.
