Re: head cam combo

I would look at an e cam or a stage 1 trick flow.........both are fuel injection friendly and will go good with any head combo.....My preferred heads right now are from a company called tristatecylinderhead.com ........Be sure to come pair any other heads you look at to theirs.....valve size etc...

Re: head cam combo

I cant stress enough to stay away from patriot heads !!!! see my sig lol

you will spend MORE in the long run . They have "core shift"really bad, the recycled beer cans they used for them still had beer in them. the valve job sucks, and spring pressures differ greatly just to name a FEW of their issues.

I would spend the extra $250 (950 vs 1200)and get the TFS fast as cast series. Its WELL worth the extra costs !!

that patriot head has a 2.02 valve and you might have piston to valve issues that you will NOT have with the TFS and a good sized cam.

I have not tore into a set of the flotek heads so I cant say nothing about them

Re: head cam combo

i would say trick flow and the e cam or the stage 1 (thats the combo i was looking at ) because any bigger cam and the computer has idle issue in the 94 -95 gt ( from what i have heard )

Re: head cam combo

you should always check piston to valve clearance to be sure as every motor IS different.

E cam fits with no issues ... F cam too but after that it can get close. its not hard to check and could save you a bunch of issues.

Its NOT just lift you have to worry about. Holding the valve open longer (duration) can cause the piston and valve to touch too.

Oh and dont forget you will need a pushrod length tool (less then $20) new correct length pushrods and stud mount rockers for any heads with stud mounts.

Re: head cam combo

the size of your cam is also going to depend on the gearing you have in your car. that will have an effect on your car too.

Re: head cam combo

If it were me, I would go with the trickflow stage 2 cam.

Any performance related aluminum head is going to be a huge improvement over the stock ones, so its just a matter of what you can afford and which you prefer. Myself, I like the AFR 185's or the 165's. They are a little more than your average head price wise but definitly worth it. When I put heads on my 351W last year i went with the Brodix ST5.0R's and I really like them, I also used the cam I mentioned above. (Trickflow Stage 2)

Here is what my combo sounds like....
