Re: head cam combo

Yeah let me know about the pms on here most days. As far as cam choice it depends on what you got and what your willing to deal with as far as drivability.

Re: head cam combo

TFS heads and a stg.2 cam. Call TFS first and ask about it on a 94/95 ECU though. They are picky. If not go with the stg.1. TFS heads are the best bang for buck IMO. I've had 165's, 185's and TFS. Identical setups with no changes but from AFR 165's to twisted wedges, and the TFS KILLS them. Enough I could definately feel the difference. That was with a stg.1 cam, and RPM intake. On a stock 5.0 shortblock. AFR 185's wont work on a stock block without fly cutting.

Re: head cam combo

this is the stage 1 cam Trick Flow Specialties TFS-51402000 - Trick Flow® Track Max® Hydraulic Roller Camshafts for Ford 5.0L - Overview - SummitRacing.com

and here are the heads i would run Trick Flow Specialties TFS-51400004 - Trick Flow® Twisted Wedge® 170 Cylinder Heads for Small Block Ford - Overview - SummitRacing.com

you could also run this ford racing cam. a little bigger than the trick flow stage 1 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-6250-X303/

Re: head cam combo

Bottom line is that with a good head/cam combo you will spend more than $1200..a cam will run you $300 and a set of decent $900 heads are hard to comeby. I've seen a stock motor with good tune and mild supercharger run in the 12's all day long.. The swapmeets are just starting and now would be a good time to shop for a decent used mild one.. Neat little things they are..

Or Save more money and get the better stuff later if you can..Because this is what is going to happen.....You will get bitten by the speed bug when you are done with your 1200 upgrade.. not fast enough.. not fast enough.. want to go faster!!!! Don't kid yourself.. it will happen..

You will have to get a new stroker cam with your new stroker motor to benefit the valve and piston changes. And then you find you will want bigger heads.. Injectors, Throttle body, mass air system, fuel pump, better clutch/converter. flywheel/Flexplate, Gears, tires, retune that ECU, lightweight radiator and fan, Subframe supports, then you will be faster and need better safety equipment, rollbar, cage, battery cutoff, battery relocation, it just keeps on going..it's never fast enough... this hobby has cost me 4 rebuilds, each time faster.. bigger.. more power!!!! I did the last combo myself and it still cost over $5000... One cylinder in that car would send that sniffer emission test into orbit...lol..
Now it goes from street car to race only, or weekend collecter car...

Sorry about rambling on.. I love this hobby.. my Stang is for the most part is finished.. but now I am working on my girls car.. 86 Regal with a BBC.. by the time Im done it will be around 750 HP.. and it will be a street car..
