Question Ignition ?

So driving the car home tonight and I turn a corner get the car rolling and go to shift as I let the clutch and give it a little gas the car just dies. Well now it wont fire back up. I already checked to make sure I have fuel and I do. Next I checked to see if the MSD 6AL is working and I dont think it is. I pulled the coil plug off the distributor cap and stuck a spark plug in it and ground it to lug that comes straight from the battery and cranked the motor over and got absolutely no spark. Just checking to see if A if I am checking for spark in a manner that will give me accurate results and B anyone else have this f*()ing problem with the MSD stuff they run?

Thanks for any and all help.

Bruce

p.s. the car runs great with the cam and clutch and trans and all the other stuff I had to change.

Do you think I can run a digital 6 instead of the 6al and would it be better than what I am running now.

Re: Ignition ?

What coil are you running? If you are still with the stock coil, could it be that it can't handle the new set up?

Smile Re: Ignition ?

If you broke a cam gear... you probably broke the set pin. If so... you got lucky!

Worse... you broke the oil pump drive. If caught in time... you can simply change out an oil pump and drive... but even worse... you lost oil pressure too and lost bearings.

It would be tough to diagnose without being there... pull the distributor carefully and maybe the gear will remain attached. Otherwise... a long magnet reach tool...

Valves moving up and down? If not... Timing chain went.
