fuel injection to carb

i just recently got a 302 fuel injected motor that i am going to tear down and rebuild. my question is is there anything that i need to do in particular to make it carbed or will it all be the same? does anyone want to trade for the stock injection stuff for a good intake and carb?

You will need to reduce the fuel pressure... and have that fuel returned to the tank after it has been reduced. Several companies offer Fuel pressure regulators or Fuel Logs to make this happen. I used a Moroso fuel log and after Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator.

You will need an aftermarket distributor (You need that hardened gear for the distributor too if running the roller cam), and a box to fire it off... duraspark or MSD will work fine... you will need an ignition coil.

If you want to make it easier to tune... get the MSD setup that allows you to adjust timing advance inside the car. So if you decide to add a bottle to it... you can take out a few degrees of timing. Or... if you add race fuel you can add timing.

Re: fuel injection to carb

well heres the deal im putting this motor in a 53 chevy that my dad gave me so im not too concerned with making it a badass motor with alot of aftermarket stuff done to it. i just want to make it nice enough to take to local cruise nights and things like that for right now. so i just need to do the main things to it to make it run and reliable. thanks for the info

With an early ride... you'll also have to create a means to return that fuel to the fuel tank.

You won't be able to deviate from the suggestions I provided... No short cuts on this one... other than a low volume electric Blue pump, and then you can delete the fuel log requirement.

I don't believe he will be able to run a mechanical pump on a late model 5.0 motor...

Someone prove me wrong on this one... I haven't seen it happen "Yet"

Re: fuel injection to carb

It is cool that you will put this in a 53 chevy. Do you want to sell the fuel injection setup?
